Water Resource Management Committee Planning Goals

The goal of the San Juan County Water Resources Management Committee is to establish an effective and efficient decision-making process for sustainable water resource management based on a collaborative relationship with the Department of Ecology. To this end, the planning process will focus on the following objectives:
· Retain enough water in streams and wetlands to protect water quality and support diverse, healthy, and abundant plant and wildlife communities.
· Integrate water supply planning with growth management planning and determine the availability of water supplies in approved growth areas.
·
Establish a county resource
management program
that addresses all water use, including exempt wells and alternative
sources,
and includes decision-making based on long-term development and
analysis of
resource information.
